Pretty much everything.... Yep.

I’m headed there next month for our honey moon!

House prices are probably more reasonable too!

How many cockroaches?

I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE......
..because I stayed a mile down the road.
Have a great time!

None, but about 700,000 chickens?

Very nice.
Im headed to Oahu in September. I’ve never seen Hawaii before, and I’m expecting big things.

If you find one of these on the beach be sure to bring it home

Not really. We find a rental for $7,000 A WEEK o_O

Congrats!

I thought that was a good mortgage in the PNW.
![]() 05/08/2018 at 19:00 |

But what does that include and what kind of rental is it?

Beautiful. We normally go to Maui because of all of the great beaches but we really need to get to Kauai. Has the flood damage been mostly patched up?

I was there in March for mine! :)
Congrats!

A hurricane in the 1990’s broke all the chicken coops and now they are feral chickens. According to locals they are not tastey.

Looks like Poipu. Been to Kauai many times. You have lots to see if this is your first time. Find a sailing adventure to go see the Na Pali Coast. We used Kauai Sea Tours.

I had my honey moon there too.

That’s where my wife and I went for our honeymoon! We stayed on the north side in Princeville.

Yep!
How long are you there for? What are you planning on doing? Looking for any recommendations? My wife and I honeymooned there for almost 2 weeks so I’m happy to share.

1. It’s tropical
1b. Not currently erupting like the Big Island
1c. Fewer homeless zombies than Seattle or Oahu

Honolulu is the San Francisco of the tropics.

Ref 1b - I’ll be there next month. Going to drink a lava flow watching the errr lava flow...

5 suites, 4 baths, literally on the beach, affluent community, of course.
![]() 05/08/2018 at 22:30 |

I can’t say I know what that means
![]() 05/08/2018 at 22:32 |

People living on top of each other, little bit hippy and eclectic yet hard drinking and two fisted. Just warmer than SF.

That does make sense...

Lava Flow is the best drink I’ve had here thus far

Very nice. I went there three or four years ago and stayed up in the Princeville area. That immediate area was almost insufferably wealthy, but Hanalei was a lot better. The road to Kalalau lookout and through Wiamea Canyon is seriously fun when there isn’t a tour bus in front of you.

Go do a tour of the Koloa Rum Company. Designate a driver before hand. It’s a doozy.

Oh man, I went to the big island last year. It was an awesome place, and there are actually still some Hawaiians living there. Oppo hooked me up on things to see/do/eat that weren’t always on the well beaten tourist path.

Hah! That’s awesome. Good advice!

If you can make it to Anahola, check out the Kalalea Juice Hale. Really cool family owned joint tucked right up to the mountains. They have some cool Toyotas in the yard as well. There’s a little burger shack across the street that used to be really good, but was just ok the last few times I went. It’s not a tourist stop, so they may have burned my patty in order to keep tourists away.

Trailheads that aren’t closed? Apparently the north side of the island was rocked by storms so a few things I was hoping to do are unavailable :(
![]() 05/09/2018 at 12:53 |

I’m on the south side so no problem here, but many trails on the north side are still closed

There should be some ATV rentals and set trails on the East side of the island near Kapa’a. Plus lots of activities around Waimea Canyon.
Alternately, this time of year a helicopter tour should net some spectacular views.
It’s too late in the season for whale watching, and probably too early for a Napali Coast tour to be as exciting as during the flowing-waterfall season.
We spent a lot of time in Hanalee and in Hanalee Bay, which was admittedly made easier and more pleasant because we had access to the St. Regis and its accommodations.
